Why are my shoes sparkly?

Fairy Fest was a lot of fun.  Be sure to check out the galleries at 4 Halos photography http://www.4halosphotography.com/ for some fantastic photos of adorable fairies! I did not get out and take very many photos, but got this good one of me with the Queen fairy, Miss Tina.

Thanks again to all my helpers, Irene, Chris and Paula!

Remaining stock will be sold on eBay or other venues.  If you didn't have time to shop at Fairy Fest, contact me and  I can set up an appointment.

Have a sparkly day!

Handpainted wings

The hand painted wings are done - they turned out so cool! I will have five sets to sell. Wings will be $10 and $15.

My husband will be able to reclaim and use  "man land" tomorrow. I had taken over the gaming table for cutting tulle and to paint wings. Now we just have to vacuum up some glitter.  Just in time for a gathering of his friends!

Miss Irene, Miss Paula and Mr. Chris will be joining me at the Pixie Parlor. They are a fun bunch!

Remember, I accept cash and checks only at the Pixie Parlor.

Of doll wings and last minute work

Hi fairy lovers, I was looking at the small and large butterflies the other day and it occurred to me that they are the right size for dolls. Here are what they look like:

(These butterflies will sell for $1 and $3) The small is about 3" tall, the others are about 7" tall.  These can be painted with acrylic craft paints, so you can buy a plain one and DIY!

Tied on with 2 ribbons, 14 inch long for a Barbie and 2 ribbons 24 inches long for my Chatty Kathy (similar height to American Girl dolls) this is how they look!  So cute! I will not have ribbon at the fairy Fest, but most folks have some around at home to put these on dolls!

Plates

The plates are gone - thanks for your interest!

The Candy Tuft Fairy

This is another from my fairy plate collection.  Again, the plate has much crisper detail.

The Candytuft Fairy

Why am I "Candytuft"? That I don't know!
Maybe the fairies first called me so.
Maybe the children, just for a joke:
(I'm in the gardens of most little folk)
Look at my clusters, see how they grow
Some pink or purple, some white as snow:
Petals uneven, Big ones and small;
Not very tufty - no candy at all!

I have one more plate, then you have seen the whole series.

The plates will be for sale at Fairy Fest. The price is $20 each. These plates have hangers factory attached on the backs. If you like a particular plate, contact me at astitchoutoftime@att.net and I will hold it for you at the festival.I will have boxes and bubble wrap.
 Each plate is 8" across.

The Sweet Pea Fairy

Here Sweet peas are climbing; here's the Sweet pea rhyme
Here are little tendrils, Helping them to climb.
Here are sweetest colors, fragrance very sweet;
Here are silky pods of peas - Not for us to eat.

Here's a fairy sister trying on with care
Such a grand new bonnet for the baby there.
Does it suit you baby? Yes I really think
Nothing's more becoming than this pretty pink!

How cute! Just like your little ones will be for Fairy Fest!

New tutus and pricing

I have developed a new tutu and I am calling it the can can.  Not sure why, but it seemed to fit.  I saw a display at a store with a mannequin wearing a bustier.  The skirt was cute, so I went up to look.  It was really organdy napkins pinned under the bottom edge of the bustier!  This is the inspiration for the can can. I have made them up in several different color combos, some will look good with ladybug wings, others with the dragonfly wings.

The pricing on the baby poof style will be $15 and the other 3 styles will be $20.  I am making all the tutus and they are very high quality.  The colors are such fun to work with and your little ones will love wearing them, or giving them for gifts!

The Heliotrope Fairy

This is the Heliotrope Fairy plate.  The real thing looks even cuter - too much shine to get a real clear picture.  I love her little outfit. Her skirt looks like her wings, and the flowers in her hair are so cute. Anyway, here it he poem on the back of it.

Heliotrope's my name and why people call me "Cherry Pie"
That I really do not know: but perhaps they call me so,
Because I give them such a treat, just like something nice to eat.

For my scent - O come and smell it!
How can words describe or tell it?
And my buds and flowers, see, soft and rich and velvety-
Deepest purple first, that fades to the palest lilac shades.
Well beloved, I know, am I - Heliotrope or Cherry Pie!

Red - tutus to go with lady bug wings

Today I sewed on the Queen Fairy's outfit. This weekend I will make her wings. She is a forest fairy.  Her colors are olive green, brown and gold.

I also sewed red tutus to go with the lady bug wings.  The lady bug wings have a headband with antennae boppers.  What fun.

A good blue day

It was a blue day today - blue tutus, that is.  I sewed 6 blue tutus and cut out my own fairy dress to test the pattern for the queen fairy. The sewing machines are humming. I have also painted small butterflies and some of the 3 dimensional blutterflies.  The 3 D ones would be the right size for fairy wings for 18" dolls like American Girl dolls. Tonight I will go thru the tulle and net scraps and see if I can make some doll tutus.

The Apple Blossom Fairy

The Apple Blossom Fairies
The Apple Blossom Fairies - another plate in my collection from Bradford Exchange. Don't you just love the collar on the littlest one?

The cute poem on the back of this plate:

Up in the tree we see you, blossom-babies,
All pink and white,
We think there must be fairies to protect you
From frost and blight,
Until, some windy day, in drifts of petals,
You take your flight.
You'll fly away!

But if we wait with patience,
Some day we'll find
Here, in your place, full grown and ripe,
the apples you left behind-
A goodly gift indeed,
from blossom -babies
To human kind!

Of ladybugs and Spring

Finally, Spring is coming - my yellow crocus are up and blooming! I am hoping the tulips I moved last year will be appearing soon too.

I have ordered some ladybug wings and the look really cute! I got red fabric today to make some red tutus.  It will be an adorable outfit!

The Pixie parlor is getting ready for the big day of the party.  I have ordered several cute Items your little fairies can purchase, of course there will be tutus, wings and hair garlands as well. The wings can even be worn by adults - a friend tried on some this last weekend. When he hopped around the wings fluttered!

The Lavender Fairy

The Lavender Fairy

Here is my favorite fairy .  This is a plate from the Bradford Exchange, based on the works of Cicely Mary Barker.

The poem on the back is:

Lavender's blue, diddle diddle,
so goes the song;
All around her bush, diddle diddle,
Butterflies throng.
They love her so well, diddle diddle
So do the bees:
While she herself, diddle diddle
Sways in the breeze.

Little Fairy Fest is coming!

Hi all, I will be running my shop "Miss Peg's Pixie Parlor" at the Little Fairy Fest party. I will also be selling fairy items a few weeks before the party, so you can get your little fairy ready for the fun. I will also be dressing the Queen Fairy! A little bit about myself - I am a historical tailor and have my own pattern line of historical patterns for the French Infantry of Napoleon's time. I sew these garments, weave, spin yarn, knit and a few other things. I have an eBay store where I sell my patterns, some garments and vintage items. Check my other blog to see about our adventures in Historical Sewing. I live in Appleton and have been here 1 1/2 years. We moved here from Minneapolis, and previoulsy resided in Rochester, MN for many years. My favorite activities are camping historical style and portraying peole of the past. My husband and I belong to several history groups. One is the French Colonials that were here in the WI area in 1754, and other is the 21e Cie - our Napoleonic French reenacting group. There are several more that we join up with at one time or another. These groups are like family, filled with wonderful friends. On to Fairy Fest! I have been asked to run a little shop at Fairy Fest. My products so far will be tutus of different styles and wings. I will be adding wands and accessories soon. I am making tutus now and will have some evenings as "open house" to help you get your little fairy ready. Please join my Blog so you know when these times will be. I will be posting pictures of items as I create them. Sizes are 20" - 23" waist. I if you need a custom size, let me know!
